“Don’t
be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I
strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right
hand!” (Isaiah 41:10).
I
remember the day when I felt weak, without any desire to fight that day’s
battle. It was a very difficult day. Not only did I feel sad and worried, but
my tribulations seemed so big that it seemed impossible to overcome them. At
that moment all my trust in God seemed to have vanished.
Looking
back on it, it´s painful to see that although God had everything under
control, my faith had weakened and I´d
forgotten everything He´d done for me in the past.
In
order to relax, I went for a walk alone, to share some time alone with the
Lord. Those 15 minutes became very intense. As I walked, I looked
around at the trees, the green grass, and the beautiful sunshine. It was the
perfect environment for happiness, but I couldn’t seem to give all my
afflictions to the One who could solved them.
On
my way back to work, I came across a butterfly. I can’t say that it’s the
most beautiful one I’ve ever seen, but its dark brown colors caught my
attention. Since it stopped right in front of me, I was able to look closer,
and suddenly I noticed it had broken wings. One wing was worse than the other,
but as I approached for a closer look, the butterfly began to fly around me. It
flew with such freedom, I just couldn´t believe my eyes.
How
can a butterfly fly with broken wings? I wondered. How can it remain alive even
though it’s so wounded? Does it feel pain? Does it feel incomplete? What caused
its wings to break?” There were so many questions, to which God responded:
“If
the butterfly flies with broken wings it’s
because I want it to, because I have the power to make it possible.” That was
His answer, and I was surprised by it. I quickly thought about my life, in how
I felt at that very moment. I also had broken wings; I was full of worries and
didn’t have any strength to battle.
Again
God whispered,: “If I can make a butterfly with broken wings fly, you can
also fly even if you’re hurt, even if you feel it’s impossible to go on. Just
let Me take you to the place you need to go.”
I
could not hold my tears of joy. God was telling me that no matter what was
happening, He was walking with me, and side by side, we’d get across this
safely.
Can
you hear God speaking to you? He says, It doesn’t matter how broken or
discouraged you are. I can make you fly with broken wings!.
